A shop near me is selling off their 1.8GHz minis at a tempting discount to clear stock before their 2GHz ones arrive. If I bought one of the older machines, could I upgrade the CPU at some point, or are the CPUs in minis soldered now rather than socketed?

Erm - I WAS blaming Apple, not you 😕

Perhaps I should explain; in the UK, people may say "arse" in response to negative news as an alternative to saying "****" or "dammit" or similar. It's a comment on the news they've been told, not on the person who told them.

The previous generation Mini's (like the 1.83 GHz you talk about) have socketed CPUs, so you CAN upgrade it. Just the 2009 model Minis are soldered.

Some stuff just doesn't translate very well 🙂
