Remember Voxels?

Kind of game related. Remember Delta Force? It was a PC game from 1999 that was overhyped because it used voxels instead of pixels. Read a recent Wired article that brought the game back to mind:

C&C Tiberian sun used voxels to map the terain dynamically (I think) not sure if that was before or after DF though....
