MBP 17" - Play Civ IV and Spore at 1600*1050?

I am going to trade my unibody MB for a 17" 2.4 Ghz 17" MBP, primarily to get the 8600m GT.

I have a pretty good idea of what to expect in Boot Camp, but I am wondering about how some of the Mac native games will run.

Anyone with a 17" care to share your experiences?

Civ IV runs smoothly on my 2.3 17" MBP at 1600x1050, but sometimes after an hour or so there is a graphic glitch that makes everything dark. I save and restart and it´s back to normal.
If my 2.3 with a 256 graphic card has no problem with Civ IV then the 2.4 with 512 will do better.
