A picture on Apple's website for their new Motion software seems to have a different apple display than the ones currently for sale. Was this picture placed online accidently? It certainly seems that the stand is different. See and judge for your self.

He's right! I noticed the same thing earlier. The stand at the bottom of the display is shaped like that of a G5! And it is silverish!

Looks like the same 17 inch monitor that we've had for a while now.

And I enlarged the photo to 300% in Photoshop...it looks the same as the current monitors. Those monitor "legs" look like clear plastic to me.

I'm with KC, you guys just want those screens wayyy too much. The legs are clear and have the same design as the current screens.

looks the same to me. Apple sometimes goofs, but that would be really stoooopid. The bezel around the screen is way too thick to be a new monitor. I don't think they would update "only" the legs.

I think the picture is just to small to get a good read on it.

Correct, they're the same displays as always... The same... :(

Or not... I just heard from somebody on MacRumors that they zoomed up on it and it is a totally different display with aluminum around it, but with the clear legs still.... I am not sure, but it looked like a whole new display when I saw it the first time... Tomorrow?

Still could be a old display but I am 50.000000000001% sure its a new one! :D

EDIT... After taking a closer look myself, it is indeed an old one

It's so small, htf can you see any differences?

IMHO, I don't think it is a new display. Nor do I think that a new one will be introduced before WWDC. THe current ones are cool, but it seems like many people are waiting for a refresh. Time will only tell.

In some cases, it does hurt being optimistic.

I concur. It's one of the flat panels like this one just under different lighting and shot from an unusual angle.

Yeah, I'm with you. it's just weird seeing it through the feet of the G5... and it's small and the lighting is weird.

I'd say it's about as accurate as pictures of the Yeti.

Doesn't the clear plastic legs look much wider than the current displays though?

New Display? (http://a772.g.akamai.net/7/772/51/d02ce81aa33bcc/www.apple.com/motion/images/indexg5-panther04182004.gif)
Current Displays (http://store.apple.com/1-800-MY-APPLE/WebObjects/AppleStore.woa/72601/wo/vm2yG34BnTO72H1K3Js1huXzAIS/0.0.7.1.0.5.21.1.2.1.3.0.0.1.0)

Now compare the legs of the old and possibly new one... New one's legs look wider, as the current one's legs are skinnier, to me

It also appears that the clear plastic on the bottom of the display between the legs on the old one, is not on the "new one"....

Exactly what I was thinking when I saw the pic for the first time.

i think people are blowing everything out of proprtion. sure motion FCPHD and shake 3.5 are cool and all, but i think the eMac updated were a disapointment, and now we're looking at this stuff like crazy. when they come, they will be on your desk...

7 months after they're announced. ;)

I agree with everyone else that photo is just too small to tell. You would need the ability to do an electronic enhancement of the picture to tell for sure. We are just going to have to be patient and wait for Steve to make the announcement.

Nah, same old screen.

But it's definitely an all new revolutionary keyboard! Dunno how you guys missed that! :D :D :D :D

When I open the picture, zoom and click "enhance," I can clearly see it is the old design.

Sarcasm aside, I've been waiting for new monitors since I sold the blueberry photo on the box of the 17" screens to Apple. I had thought it was for a new monitor, then they just updated the box.

Ladies and Geltlemen. Through advanced pixel modulation and re-applying the vertex shaders I have compiled the large version of this picture. And the conclustion? Your all crazy. Its the same damn monitor. Actually, I saw theis back on the Apple Sales Web a couple of weeks and thought it was new, but it isn't.

He's right... They're not wider legs, just looks like it since it's at an angle, but actually when you look at that (what appears to be) wide left leg, it is actually the stand in back and the small leg, they look like they're together... Moving on with our lives...

Hey, didn't someone say new displays before this Wednesday?

jimsowden.... Wonderful job on the enlargement

jimsowden should be able to tell us when the new displays are comin'. I believe he called the eMac upgrades.

Apple displays are *****! They are way behind the rest in terms of response time and contrast ratio! Get a Samsung 172x for cheaper and it matches the G5 and is DEFINATELY better!

To me, it actually looks like there is just one, wider leg, centered under the display, but I’m probably wrong. Would make it adjustable though . . .

Well atleast you knew. You shouldn't have to tell us everything. It would probably get whoever your source is in trouble (if it is a person). I guess you kind of have to throw Apple off of your trail, per say.

Those are they same. For a while now, people have been seeing displays with shadows - they can look deceiving but they are merely the current monitors.
