Backslash

Hi everybody:

Yesterday I bought a MacBook white and I am really happy with it.

Anyway, I have a keyboard basic question:

My native language is Spanish and I use the Spanish ISO layout in my computer keyboards; anyway, my new macbook has an English keyboard and, though I changed the keyboard layout to be used as a Spanish one, I did not find a way to enter the backslash. The other characters [including ñ and accented vowels are working properly].

Do you know what key combination must I press to enter the backslash?

SHIFT_ALT_7 does not workl!

In the terminal, I was able to produce the backslash, using OPTION-Y;
but in Cocoa apps, typing such combination produces a ¥.

How can I enter the ASCII code (err... Unicode) for such character?

Tenia el mismo problema amigo, tengo una Macbook White. Mi consejo es que uses el Layout en Ingles (el de IBM), acostumbrate, ya que para programar es lo mejor, notaras que todos los simbolos que necesitas estan a la mano y no tendras dificultades programando en otros lugares.

Have you tried the Keyboard Viewer? You can find it at: System Preferences -> International -> Input Menu -> check: Show Input menu in menu bar

Tenia el mismo problema amigo, tengo una Macbook White. Mi consejo es que uses el Layout en Ingles (el de IBM), acostumbrate, ya que para programar es lo mejor, notaras que todos los simbolos que necesitas estan a la mano y no tendras dificultades programando en otros lugares.

Yeap, I tried it, but if you want to write something like:

printf("Read the following lines:\n\t1. One\n\t2. Two\n\t3. Three\n\n");

the keyboard viewer is not an option :(

Actually, I found an application called UKELELE that modifies the keyboard layout files to your desire. It solved my problem.
