Description:: I’m always amazed at how much extra space seems to be inside the black and white MacBooks, given Apple’s obsession with slimming things down. First someone was able to add a second LCD screen behind the MacBook’s main one, and now InsanelyMac forum member jboy21 has crammed a usb mouse inside his black MacBook to add right click functionality.

Exactly.

I find it much easier to put two fingers on the trackpad and click than having to re-adjust my hand to hit the right-click button on PC laptops.

Yeah, it seems a lot more natural as well, as if laptops should have always worked that way. Same with two-finger scrolling - why have an area of the trackpad dedicated to scrolling when you could use the whole thing for both moving the cursor and scrolling the page.

I'm the odd man out here, looks like--I'm actually a proponent of having a dedicated second button (although I've never used the new MacBook entire-trackpad-is-a-button setup, so I still need to give it a try to evaluate it fairly before I dismiss it!). Even so, this is a little pointless, considering that it's not that difficult to put two fingers on the trackpad.

W-W-W-wrong

Under Bootcamp, 2 fingers does not work to right click, you need an external mouse.

Please research what you say before you post. It saves you from being made fun of if you do so.;)

After I got used to it, I prefer the two finger approach instead of a left/right button mouse.

Maybe you didn't install the drivers?

For the older MBs, you need to press the button along with two fingers on the trackpad for right click. So still, there is right click. To the user who posted that you can't, please research.

Does that mean in the newer laptops you can just tap 2 fingers like in OS X, without having to also press the button?

with the latest multitouch trackpad driver update, yes.. two finger tap = secondary click just like OS X.

Actually, no. I have a rev A MacBook from 2006 and I can simply tap the trackpad with 2 fingers for a right click...no button necessary. It's been that way since the day I bought it. Same in bootcamp.

Whether he needed to do this or not to get the functionality, it still seems like pretty impressive work.

What a pointless hack. While this also may seem pointless, I agree with everyone here that's said it's easier to two-finger click than having to "operate" on the MB's trackpad like the user did. I'd have literally slapped him.

MatZani, or whatever your username here is: You're the one that's wrong. Do your research indeed. If you were trying to get laughs, then nice try. Try again. :P

He said in the article that he put all the extra stuff in the 'spare' memory slot. So he must be using a single 2GB stick. Using a Macbook this will slow things down because the graphics depends on memory speed and using only 1 stick you'll get half the bandwidth.

A big loss for something which i don't see the need for (when you consider two finger clicking).
