Always prompted for keychain password in Safari! Why?

When using Safari it always asks for a Keychain password or something like that. Does anyone know what to do to get it to stop asking for it???? It's driving me nuts. Any way to just turn Keychain off?? iBook G3, OS X 10.3.2, logged in under a non-admin account.

Every time you restart, it will ask you to authorise access to secure items in the Keychain.

You may go to Keychain Access, click on the website you want to freely allow and click 'Always allow' and then, enter the administrator password.

You will then be allowing, anyone who uses that account, access to whatever secure data is at that website, unless the website developers have disallowed automatic filling of information such as accounts and passwords.

You could also turn off autofill in Safari, though you will then lose that feature.

Interesting concept, I just tried to figure that out on mine. I use Safari (I'm the admin) but when I log out and my wife logs into her account the same thing. She has her log in password and I have my password which is the same admin I use to install programs and make upgrades, but neither of those 2 worked, until I tried to remember a password I used last year to set up the accounts, which is really off base. Haven't tried opening Keychain yet because I didn't think I was using it (never set it up, or want to) Is it an automatic program that lurks in the background?

It's not a program, but many applications use keychains to store passwords and things. For example, whenever you make a disk image and are asked for a password to give it, this is stored in the Keychain, and Mail stores all your account passwords there. Not everything is stored in them though, eg it doesn't store user passwords.

Your user keychain(s) are stored in Home/Library/Keychains. Keychain Access is just a program to access these files.

I would try two things: Run the keychain utility (Applications -> utilities -> Keychain Access, Window -> Keychain First Aid) and also repair permissions. Either one of these things will mess with your keychain & system preferences when not quite right.
