Macbook does not START after 10.5.6 upgrade !

Hi

2 days ago I decided to upgrade to 10.5.6 but on installing it hung up and decided to stop it and restart, started OK to previous version, tried again for second time to upgrade and it hung up again on installation.

This time on trying to restart , started a bit , apple logo and start chime came on , then it went off .

This same thing happens , tried all but no success
Tried to reset PMU/SMC/PRAM

Also tried the following but it never helped

Press X during startup Force Mac OS X startup
Press Option-Command-Shift-Delete
during startup Bypass primary startup volume and seek a different startup volume (such as a CD or external disk)
Press C during startup Start up from a CD that has a system folder
Press N during startup Attempt to start up from a compatible network server (NetBoot)
Press T during startup Start up in FireWire Target Disk mode
Press Shift during startup start up in Safe Boot mode and temporarily disable login items and non-essential kernel extension files (Mac OS X 10.2 and later)

Please can enyone help me out ?

there is no apple store nearby and did not back up my stuff

tried to keep Leopard DVD and boot , never worked also.

All these happened because of hung up while upgrading to 10.5.6

last message says CPU Halted

then it goes off , there is limited time to read it

is there any other place to read ?

What you should've done before you tried to re-install the update again was delete the incomplete installation from Macintosh HD\Library\Updates. Right now I think that there is an invalid or incomplete file from the failed update.

Boot into single-user mode (command-s) and when you can, type

fsck -fy and then type "reboot" (without quotes).

Note what happens and then post back.

You are right, but it never occured to me that it will lead to dead machine

Now I did as you said,

Typed

fsck -fy reboot

says

command not found

any more clue please , should i leave space after "fsck" ?
or a space before word "reboot"

i'm not good in this so have to ask lot of questions

Managed to get it right on typing

it reboots than back to screen i get as before and goes OFF

also tried /sbin/fsck -fy
says volume check failed

on start of this screen it says

if you want to make modifications to files use
/sbin/fsck -fy
/sbin/mount -uw/

So thats the news , disregard my previous message
