Home Button Broke - Some said Jailbreak... how?

Hello

My iPod Touch (1st gen) home button broke in February and since then I've had to hold the power button to turn the device off to return to the home screen.

Someone said that I could Jailbreak the iPod Touch and install something called Dock?

Can this be done? If so can someone give me the steps to do this.

Jailbreak and install SBSettings from Cydia. Then, install the Home Button add on. I forget the exact name of the add on, but it acts exactly like the home button. Pretty neat.

Try taking it to an Apple Store. I got mine exchanged with a refurb with the warranty expired. Good Luck!

my question would how would he get it into dfu mode to be able to jailbreak if he can't use the home button at all?
