Skype is not available in the US (4/6/09)?

I just trying to download Skype today (4/6/09) and itune says it is not available in the US store. Did Apple pull out skype? or it is just me?

I just went to the product page on my phone (in the app store) and got that same message. Maybe ATT finally got to apple about it. Which is stupid cause it was already wifi only.

Just checked by searching in the App Store for Skype. The listing appears in the search results, but clicking on it produces a message that is not currently available in the U.S. App Store.

Weird! Glad I got it right after it came out.

That is true I have confirmed it checking on multiple stores Skype has been pulled out!

Strange.
When I clicked on it it said I had already purchased it but if I want to download it again to click OK…

I downloaded the lite version before it was "supposed" to come out ...does the lite version work like the original (for those who were lucky enough to get it) - what are the differences between lite and the full versions?

Also - for those who got it before they took it off, no more updates are gonna be put out for both the LITE and FULL editions, correct?

It held the no1 spot in free apps.. It's no longer there in the UK !

I'd be really pissed off if the telecoms force the one decent VOIP app off the App Store. :mad:

As I say, when I search for it, sometimes its there, sometimes it isnt. Either way, if its there to click on, I get this:

I couldn't find it in the Spanish store so I went to skype's website and clicked on the link from there. It took me directly to the app page in iTunes. It's weird because it's not even showing up when I search for it :confused:

It has appeared on my itunes in desktop but no on my iphone.....

after I update my itune to 8.1.1, I was able to download and install skype :)I just did this update and now Skype doesn't even appear in a search of the App Store. It also doesn't show up in a search from the iPhone.

If there is a promised update, it is possible the developer pulled the current version while waiting for the release of its replacement. I've seen that done once in awhile when there is a major bug in the current release.

We can hope.

By golly, yes, I can get to it with that link and I confirmed that I can download it too. The link to the iPhone app on the Skype main web page also works to get you there.

There must be something being updated in the App Store, maybe associated with the new iTunes version that came out today.

Edit: Skype now appears again in searches on the iPhone. It's 2:00 PM CDT.

Edit 2: and it also appears in searches from iTunes.
