Mmm...surely they wouldn't take it down twice in a 12 hour period

what do you mean?
I mean IF there is an ibook and powerbook update its happening right now...they wouldn't do it again in 3-5 hours when the US site updates. We should hence know within the hour...!

The US store is down as well. I only mentioned the UK because its of the most interest to me, what with me being here.

The US Store isn't down. It seems that all the European Apple stores are down, but none of the others are.

It's the usual update process. First european stores go down, then US store. I expect that in 18 minutes it will be back up with the updates! Bring it on!!! :D

The requested application was not found on this server.
... this comes up when you go to the German Apple Store (http://store.apple.com/Apple/WebObjects/germanstore/). Whatever they're doing, it doesn't seem like a normal update... maybe new store layout? When was the maintenance day again?

Well, the "We'll Be Back Soon" message is back up (When are they finally gonna change that font to Myriad? Apple Garamond is so pre-revolutionary)

Argh! I have to leave for school in 7 minutes. I have two options..
a) leave for school and find out when you get home.
b) find out now and be late for school.
I think Ill choose the latter. ;)

Hell, I don't want to miss my Calculus class.
See, if anything other than the USA store, I check the Japan-Apple site. My philosophy: Since they see 8AM before the USA does, they should have the updates on their site first.
Of course, that has yet to be proved true, but I keep checking.
Interesting... the Japan-Apple store is down.
So, anyone else willing to guess what is going on? I'm guessing that these are the updates (http://news.com.com/2100-1046_3-5194311.html?tag=nefd.top).

Nops, the french store had blurbs about these tools before closing, besides just adding some software shouldn't take the whole sites down for more than 2 hours now...
