ethernet and wireless - which one does the computer use?

I currently have my imac and mac mini connected to the internet via ethernet but have the wireless function turned on as well. With this configuration, does the computer default to the ethernet connection or determine the faster channel and use that?

It defaults to whichever that gets internet connection first when you restart or wake from sleep. In this case it should be ethernet.

You should turn off wifi if you don't use it.
