I accidentally hit a key, and now when I press the spacebar, it toggles the hand tool. When I hold it down to pan around, it keeps switching on and off, does anyone know the key combo to restore it to the default setting?

I may be misunderstanding your post, but spacebar should toggle the Hand tool by default anyway: i.e. whilst using any other tool other than Text, press and hold the spacebar and left click and hold to drag the image around (obviously this won't work if your image already fits in the window). I'm not sure what you mean by the bit about switching on and off.
Apologies if I've misunderstood - if you could clarify that would be great (also which version of PS are you on and what platform?)

Sorry if I wasn't clear. What I mean is that when I hit the spacebar once, it toggles the hand tool on. If I hold it, it keeps switching back between the hand and move tool. So In order for me to pan, I have to hit the spacebar, and when i'm done, hit it again.

That does seem strange. I'm assuming that you've eliminated various possibilities, e.g.:
The space bar misbehaving in other apps
Physical problem with the keyboard
Some keyboard shortcuts conflicting
Tried a reboot.....
If no-one has the direct answer to this, it may be worth backing up your preference files and then relaunching Photoshop and forcing it to create new (default) ones.

Thank you for responding. I figured it out. The problem was that I was running a text expander that was somehow conflicting with the spacebar in all my adobe apps. Thanks again.
