new model looks good on internet in pics and media etc....but when i used it in real life.... i preferred the black older one.
Only thing lacking on black is illuminated keys.

At least compared to the G4 iBook I was coming from. When I had to go back on there last week, the trackpad felt tacky and high-friction. Even compared to the whitebooks I used at Fry's the Unibody feels far lower friction.

I understand the firewire point, but for me its not an issue at all. Just like for him it may be one. The rest of your points about being the same MacBook under the skin are false, he has a Black MacBook so none of that can be true, except for maybe the CPU speed. If an uninformed user wants to use his archaic machine just because it's a different color, let him. It's his business. Don't force stuff on other people though.

It is a see-through case, but the apple doesn't show up when you're in clamshell mode, as the screen is off.
I got the case for protection. A clean body really increases resale value down the road. As much as I may intend to keep it, you never know when you may have to let something go, and I want to keep it as clean as possible for the next potential owner.

I know that post isn't aimed at me or anything but...What a joke. The first place I saw the new MacBook Pro, that I bought 5 days ago, was on Apple's website. I have never, ever seen an ad for ANY Mac outside of 2 or 3 of those "I'm a Mac, I'm a PC" ones. Same with the old black and white MacBooks, I hadn't seen anything about those until I was on Apple's website one day. How is that me buying something that is "fed through media to sell", when it's from the website of Apple, the manufacturer, themselves?

I tested out every single one of those old notebooks (the black and white MacBooks and the old MacBook Pro) when they were still 'new', and they were really quite nice, yes. But I still like the new one more. I'm allowed my own opinion, you're allowed yours. If you prefer the black MacBook over others, that's your choice. But you have to remember there is no such thing as a wrong opinion. Just because you're insistent that something is better doesn't make it so. Exactly the same with me or something else trying say the new one is superior. It's called opinion and, like I said, no one is ever right or wrong with something like that.

I own both and I find the Aluminum much better. Not only does it feel better in use but it is much more solid when moved around. The glass trackpad is a vast improvement over the one found on plastic MacBooks. The old one wears, gets shiny, and less easy to move your finger across after time. I've been using my Aluminum MacBook for months and it has yet to show any signs of use. Simply put the Unibodies are much better engineered and use better and more durable materials.

Have you looked lately at the base model plastic MB vs. the aluminum? CPU is the same, sure "you" have DDR3 RAM (but in reality there's little difference), graphics card is the same, aluminum is stronger but the plastic is solid, too, screen is the same (backlight is different) - I'll give you multitouch and illuminated keyboard. However, to get the multitouch you have to use the "buttonless" trackpad. Personally, I hate it.

Stop bashing plastic Macbooks just because YOU like the aluminum better. I've used both and I'd still keep my plastic one (though I would like a newer plastic one with the nvidia card). And yes, firewire is important to some of us. :) Which you prefer is all in the realm of opinion.
