imovie 6- updating, importing..

Hi.
So, I have IMovie 6 HD and whenever I import something, when it converts it to HD, it takes FOREVER. Even a two second video takes at least 10 seconds. Imagine a 20 minute video. Yikes.
Also, when I'm browsing on the mac website for updates, I try downloading them but it always claims I dont have IMovie 6 HD, and I dont know why.
PLEASEEE help- I need to know asap.

Use MPEGStreamClip to convert the video to the Mov container with the DV codec.

( BigBossBomb, I remembered to say it more clearly this time!! ;) )

As for the updates, I have no idea. Do you have it in some other folder than ~/Applications? Do you still have your original install CD?
