Music File Sharing Server

Hi Mac Community:

I want to share my music files but I want to upload about 60 gigs of music to a private server or a good server you guys and girls know which i could share my music and set individual accounts for my friends. Anyone care to help me out?

P.S. I know there's a way to do it with your machine but I don't want to do it with that method I want to upload the files to a server and set individual accounts.

How much do you know about databases? If the answer is "very little" you're going to have a hard time setting up accounts. And if you go for a paid hosting option, 60 GB is going to cost you, not to mention the bandwidth your friends will use downloading.

yes very little but I am willing to learn, If someone points me to the right directions and the needed tools to get this done I will pick it up on my own

What you would be doing is illegal unless it's your own music without copyright implications.

But if you get a linux / unix hosting service then look into .htaccess files for apache (if they use Apache).

Or on a Windows hosted service you can just create the user accounts / passwords and then set the permissions on a folder in Explorer, then share the folder your music sits in to the web. When they access the url it will prompt you for a username and password.
