Hi people, I've heard that a few people have managed to get some issues on their Macs fixed out of warranty and I was wondering if anyone knew anything about these issues on the White Macbook?
The screen bezel is coming off at the bottom right corner, and a bit of plastic has come of the bottom on the right wrist rest. There also seems to be a hairline crack on the back of the bottom case which I've heard they will fix out of warranty.
My Macbook's mainly been used indoors, only been outside once or twice. It's never been dropped and spends most of its life on my desk or on my living room coffee table.
I made an appointment at the Genius Bar in Glasgow but I was wondering if anyone could give me an idea of what to expect them to say?

Well some people have a hard time getting fixes when its IN warranty, so you can image how it would be like with no warranty. Just try it and see what happens.

Not sure if this one could be fixed without AppleCare...
...and a bit of plastic has come of the bottom on the right wrist rest. This is a known issue, and they very well may fix this out of warranty for you.
...There also seems to be a hairline crack on the back of the bottom case which I've heard they will fix out of warranty.
Same here, they'll probably fix it out of warranty.

Yes I do understand the concept of warranty.
As my original post clearly states, I am asking because I have heard that some people have managed to get these issues fixed outside warranty.
EDIT: Thanks for the other comments people, I'll wait and see what happens. Oh, and I love your avatar ziggyonice :-D

You may have to pay. Some stores don't even look at the warrenty if its an easy fix and can be done right there. Some stores make you go through hell. I had a problem with my MacPro and made an appointment. They just fixed it and sent me on my way...didn't even ask. Turned out to be software problem...never needed to go back. This was 2 years ago.

They replaced this for me after I was our of the warranty period. Make a stink about how it is a known issue and print out some blogs of people saying they got theirs fixed out of warranty just in case. Good luck!

I had the right wrist crack too and took my MB to an Apple store. They replaced the case free of charge. Got the MB back the next day. I don't know if being out of warrantee was an issue since I have apple care.

Great news! Got the wrist crack and the screen bezel fixed for free! Dropped it off at around 1.20 and by 2.30 it was ready to be picked up. I am so impressed! All that outside warranty for £0!
I didn't mention the hairline crack because it's something you don't see and I felt I would have been pushing my luck a bit considering it was out of warranty and I have no AppleCare, but I'm am mighty impressed at the service the Genius Bar offers. As long as there's an Apple Store in Glasgow I'll be staying a Mac user, I doubt you would get that level of service at PC World :p
Good luck to anyone else looking to get these issues sorted.

Mac OS Ken was reporting yesterday that apple was fixing certain cracks out of warranty, due to the said cracks representing problems with the design of the whitebooks.
Basically, they believe that cracks in certain specified areas are covered, while others are not. For details, listen to Thursday's or Friday's show.

Accidental/ user damage is not covered by Apple Care. I highly doubt they will replace the display bezel for free. They generally only replace the palm rest out of warranty. Good Luck!

I was little late to the game LOL
Last time I was at the genius bar the genius specifically said a cracked display bezel would not be fixed out of warranty.

It wasn't cracked, it had just popped off the rest of the display unit. He said it was an easy thing to fix it back on so I guess since I was getting the top panel of the base replaced he figured they might as well fix that as well.
