Mac Pro BTO ship dates??? [Archive]

I just put an order in for a BTO 2.93GHz with the raid card and a single Radeon HD 4870, everything else is default.

Does any know why the ship date is listed as May 21, over a month away???

Is the the Xeon Chips that is the hold up?

Nope. When I ordered mine on the fifth of March, it was scheduled for a week away. When I reordered, I got it a week later.

Could be Alaska, but that would be ship time and not ship date from Apple...

OH! It could be the RAID card.

Edit: can't be my state, everything comes through here. Matter of fact it passed thought and gets shipped back to here... Really upsetting to watch the tracking website.

Maybe it is the raid card...

It IS the raid card. If you call Apple, they will confirm that. I wanted the raid card as well, but due to the long ship dates I just ended up ordering without it. I'm still contemplating on going 3rd party or ordering the raid card at a later date.

My BTO 2.93 Quad with 4870 and without raid took 8 days including shipping by ground cross country. Must be your raid card.

Yeah, just for kicks go through the "configure your Mac Pro" process again, and watch the ship date change as you select different options.

My ship date is May 11th, they say it's the RAID card.

I ordered my 2.66 Quad on monday (BTO w 4870, airport and wireless mouse). It shipped this afternoon, with ETA the 13th-20th.

Side note... would "Ontario, CA" on the fedex tracking read as "Ontario, California" or "Ontario, Canada"?

It is Ontario, California not Canada.
