Appleinsider has sources saying that Apple stores will switch to Iphone Apps with 3rd party hardware scanners.

So cool. I remember thinking how cool it was when they would ring you up with an imac.

The first time I ever walked into an Apple store was in 2004 and they did use iMacs. I'm not sure what POS system the iMacs were using back then.

We use those Symbol devices at work, I hate them. They don't have an off button, just a restart. They lock up all the time and we're lucky to get 3-4 hours of battery life on them... and people complain about the iPhone battery??

sounds great. i'm sure they'll continue to use the iMacs at the counter as well. very nice. smart move by apple
