5D Mark II & iMacs - which one?

I am planning on buying the $1799 24" iMac with a 256mb video card, 2.93ghz, etc (still trying to rationalize it).

Does anybody have experience playing and EDITING the 5DII 1080p video clips on iMacs, and do the iMacs choke?

you'll have to convert the clips prior to editing regardless of which NLE you choose... any of the current iMacs will do fine with something like DVCProHD on a FW drive.
