I ordered my new powerbook this morning. It says it should ship on or before 4/27. Has anyone had their powerbook ship yet? What does it say for your shipping? What are the specs of your new powerbook? :)

Yea you probably have mine beat.... but does it have a backlit keyboard?:D (seriously, I could type with that keyboard for hours and not get bored)
I was waiting for a new G5 but when I saw this I just had to have it. I am very excited!

My first Mac, and my first laptop. 15" Powerbook w/ superdrive, 128MB VRAM, 80GB HD @ 5400. I stuck with the 2x256MB memory config so I'll throw some more in once my bank account recovers a bit. Just over $2600 after tax with edu discount. I can hardly wait! This semester should be over just in time for me to play with it! :D

I ordered my new 12" on the 20th and received and estimated ship date of 4/29.
What vendor did you order through? did you order through apple directly?
In the past i've purchased my apple machines through apple, but the last few times have been real let downs. I chose to purchase my last machine and this machine through amazon. They've got a 30 day no questions asked refund and plus i avoided state tax.

I ordered mine (15" BTO) on 4/19 @ 9:15am (EST).

I wish it were sooner.
Does anybody know where they build the BTOs?

I ordered my 17" on the 19th too, and my ship date says on or before the 26th as well, although the man I spoke to at Apple told me that it will more then likely ship before then. I dont want to get anybody's hopes up though. :D One thing you might want to check is the price of your books. For those that bought the 15" SD with the one DIMM, 128mb video memory, and the 5200RPM drive, its only about $100 more for the same config. as a 17". You may want to change your order if you would rather have a 17" and dont mind the "bulk." Just a heads up! :)

i too ordered my first mac! PB 15 w/o, 5400rpm and the single 512 stick...can't wait to get it. ordered it from my school (has a mac store!) and they said it would arrive may 3 (ordered it on the 19th). I guess that's consistent with a ship-out date of the 27th right? i dunno.

It left Shanghai at 5:37 (EST) this morning. Well, actually it said that it missed the Fedex cutoff time, so it hasn't actually left there yet.
Oh yeah, I ordered mine 9:18 am (EST) on 4/19.

I'm not sure 5400rpm is going to help a 1.5Mhz processor. Perhaps the CPU will be the bottleneck. :)

I popped into the Baulkham Hills Store yesterday as I was in the area just to ask them a few questions. Got the info from that Store.
Maybe perhaps ? Each Nextbyte Store have a Different ETA delivery times on new PowerBooks (which should not be).
Is nextbyte a Franchise ?

Maybe, I think they go off Apple's systems for release times. Good thing is you can get better deals and cheap ram. Apple don't do any deals online unless they're marketed.
Not sure about Franchise...

has anyone picked up a new 12inch or even a 15inch for that matter at an Apple Store???
Yes.
I posted my 867MHz 12" PB on eBay late Wednesday night / Thursday morning at 1 a.m. Thursday morning I received the eBay email saying it sold. Thursday evening I scoured the Chicago area looking for a compelling deal on the previous PBs (12s and 15s). Micro Center, Best Buy and CompUSA had pretty much regular prices (well, $200 off but that matches my education discount) on the previous models. So I went to the local Apple Store and got my brand new, 1.33 GHz 12" PB.
I've doubled the RAM already (I traded a friend my USB Soundsticks for a nice tripod and RAM). This is the most fun I've had buying a computer since getting my G5.
My new PB is about 55% faster clockrate-wise than the one it replaces. I'm happy.

Now I can give this 500MHz G3 Pismo to my wife for her to use full time.

Australia's BTO stock is apparently built/configured and shipped (airfreight) from Singapore. It goes to Forest Ville headquaters and then gets shipped out to stores etc. NSW and VIC are 2-3 days ahead of the rest of the states because of this...
I gues sdelays occur because they have to try and bulk ship units. Hopefully the initial demand will see extra staff put on the configuring, and shipping will occur smoothly...
