After getting the new MBP 17", I've been on the hunt to be able to connect all my old devices.

I had some firewire 400 equipment such as a Sony camera. The cable it came with is an iLink to Firewire 400.

Does anybody know where I can find the same cable but to Firewire 800 instead or does anybody make a 400 to 800 converter?

Nevermind, found both on Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/Tripp-Lite-F019-006-Firewire-Hi-speed/dp/B000AAZQM2/ref=pd_bxgy_e_img_c

Depends if the connection to the camera is the normal F400 6 pin vs. the mini 4pin. Left is 4pin right is 6pin (http://www.network-accessories.com/cgi-bin/images/firewire46.jpg).

Here is a 6pin to 9pin cable (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16812189097) for $3.99.

Here is a 4pin to 9pin cable (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16812270193) for $7.99.

Here is a 6pin to 9pin adapter (http://www.amazon.com/Firewire-800-9-6-Adapter-Rohs/dp/B000LGGAD4/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1239510236&sr=1-1) so you can hook up any of the cables you have now to your F800 (9 pin) port for $11.16.

For a bit of cash back go through this link (http://www.ebates.com/rf.do?referrerid=DMMneqKtzskNampKdYmMZA%3D%3D).

Crap...neither Amazon nor any of the suggested stores ship that item to Canada.

I found a local store that sells it though.

Local works too. Newegg.ca has a 4p9p cable for $9.99 (http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16812270193). You can still use the ebates but just go to the newegg.com and then click the Canada store at the bottom right of the page.
