HI guys

basically i've just ordered my first electric kit, the roland td-4k/s
I've never owned an electric kit so dont no much about using midi.
Can someone explain the best way to midi the kit to my iMac
What is the best USB interface to get to connect the midi to usb on my Mac. I saw some cheap ones on ebay so will they do the trick?

Also what is the best software to buy eg Cubase, Logic etc for running the setup.

Cheers

Not sure about the connection, as I don't have any MIDI stuff, but I can tell you that lots of DJs in the electronic music scene are using Logic now. Many still use Cubase, but it's pretty much agreed that Logic is better in small ways.
So go with logic! ;)

MIDI is just data, not actual audio, so any interface will be fine, you won't lose sound quality by getting a cheap interface. Logic is pretty sick for MIDI, though if you have never used a DAW before then you might wanna start with garageband, or maybe cubase(I've never used it so I'm not sure how simple it is, but it's probably simpler than Logic). However if you do have some experience recording in DAWs already than Logic is the way to go for MIDI recording.
FYI-these kinda questions would be better suited for the Digital Audio section in the forum.
