When it comes to the macbooks and macbook pros they seem to have places where they could have added more ports and other things to it. Anyone else think so?

Nope. You've never seen the inside of one, have you?

Without a doubt. I would like another usb port personally, but, hey I knew what I was buying and am currently happy with my Macbook.

When you point it out, I guess the space is limited.

We went through this with the dropping of FW on the MacBooks. Inside, there simply is no space for any more connectors or any more electronics on the circuit board. Apple has made design tradeoffs and chosen this route rather than, say, a smaller battery but a FW port or card slot.

And where is this wasted space? The front has the HDD, Battery and trackpad while the back houses the keyboard, logic board/ports and the optical drive.

Take a look at this link (http://www.ifixit.com/MacBook-Parts/MacBook-Unibody-2-4-GHz-Logic-Board/IF160-008)

Now, tell me if there is any room on the Logic board.

After that, take a look at the dis assembly pictures and pray tell where you would have made the space compromise to fit the FW in.

I think with this generation of portables, Apple has maximized the real estate better than the previous models. (Even though I wanted the Early-2008 MBP or that style/model, never was a fan of the SuperDrive being by the right palm rest, glad Apple moved it back to the right)

Yeah I mean, how dare they not include a card reader? They're so small... just a small hole in the front!!

Personally, i'm glad they didn't put any additional crap on here, because it would've increased weight and maybe even added a couple of millimeters to the body.

I've been wondering the last few days if Apple could have made the black surrounding the display a little thinner and given us a 14" screen with perhaps a higher resolution.

But then I figured that would bring it way too close to the Macbook Pro for Apple to consider it.

Funny how that works, eh? ;)

Take the time to look INSIDE the machine and see what kind of space they were dealing with :p
