For the past 6 months I've been listening to hollywood undead. And the past 3 months or so also 3-OH!-3, and recently a band called Cobra Starship. They're all different, but I'd put them in the same category. Only thing is I don't know what you would call it, as I found out when I was trying to explain them to my friend today. I mean it could be easily called rock, but they lyrics are also more hip hop / rhyming, yet the instrumentation is almost all electronic. And specifically with Hollywood Undead and 3OH!3, they have a characteristic dirty synth sound. What would you guys call this music, and what are some similar artists I should check out?

What helps me in such cases is Amazon and their listings and recommendations.

Try Sonny, Breathe Carolina, Forever the Sickest Kids, And Then There Were None, and Attack Attack!. These bands are all pretty mainstream and have a similar sound.

Also, word of warning, stay away from Brokencyde and Millionaires. They're pretty bad. (No offense if you like them.)

What he said, actually, in regards to Brokencyde and Millionaires. But if you like it, who's to say not to listen to them?

Cobra Starship is easier to help with- they're pretty much pop-punk but with heavy emphasis on electronics, so maybe Metro Station (despite my personal dislike of their music).

With slightly harder to find offerings, Go:Audio and Polysics might be a further, but well offered match. And of course slightly less electronics based is Flight 409 and Red Car Wire. And of course, Gabe Saporta (the frontman of Cobra Starship) was in a pop-punk band before he was with Cobra, called Midtown, which is very much worth your listen, even though it's a little different.

I hope this helps.

Ha! What a coincidince. I used to like a couple songs by Midtown, but never knew the connection. Also kind of funny that you guys said that about Brokencyde, because somehow I stumboled upon them in my search a while ago and really didn't like them lol.

I love me some Cobra Starship! I saw them and Metro the other day... Yes, please stay away from Metro. Hah, I have their CD (not gonna lie a few catchy songs) but I despise them... well mainly Trace. They're a band I love to hate. ;)

I kind of know what you mean about how there really isn't a specific genre or anything. I've been recently liking the Electronic sound and I found some songs I really like via Genius. They are

Vanished - Crystal Castles
Never Win - Fischerspooner
Bounce, Click Click & Easy Love - Mstrkrft
And LMFAO may also be something you like.

If you're looking for the more pop punk sound I would suggest
Almost Here - The Academy Is...
Take This To Your Grave - Fall Out Boy

Those two are some of my favorite albums, but it sounds like you're looking for more electronic rather than pop punk. :)
