I've been looking around for a program for the mac that would convert .m2ts into a compatible format for quicktime/apple tv. someone said to use FCE, and I tried, but it said it was an unrecognized format. Does anyone have any ideas on what to do? Its just a file on my hard drive that I want to convert for apple tv, and keep it in HD. Preferably a program thats free. any help would be appreciated, thx. :)

You want MPEG Streamclip:

Fast, lightweight video converter that handles most formats you'll ever need to interact with (more if you install Perian, etc.). If you want to edit this, I suggest exporting to quicktime video, using the HDV compression, which is what I assume your source footage is.
