Heya Guys! Hope you all great! my birthday will be exactly in 10 days!! of course I can't wait for it!! I was asked to choose anything I want as a gift! so far I asked for a camcoder! and i have 2 more options! so what I am asking now is that i'm moving from stupid windows to MAC! in our county we don't have a real apple store but we have a retailer anyways that's not our issue! what i've seen and loved is the MAC PRO! it looks like a GANGSTER!BEAST! so i'm really planning to get one!! you will ask what I do?!? hmmmmmmmm nothing much loool i know it will be over powered machine of what i do! but o well I LOVED IT ! I do only normal basic photoshop like when i go on jet skies ,yacht beach friends bikes and so i love to edit those photos and of course i snap video and i used to edit them with windows movie maker anyways what i'm asking is that will i have any hard time dealing with mac?!!? my issue isn't price my issue is the hard time lol if there won't be a hard time then I will go and buy my new beauty baby!
thanks in advice folks!

Please send photos of you doing photoshop while on jet-skis or on friends bikes. You may want to see if you can find a really good waterproof case.:D
You should be fine with the mac. It's easy to install windows as a pacifier on your system until you feel fully comfortable with the OS, or to run any software that hasn't yet been adapted to OS X.

Seriously, I can't imagine why anyone would ever ever buy a Mac Pro that didn't have a real, professional reason for it. They are so gigantic and heavy and kind of unsightly (good design, but it looks a little too industrial for most homes).

Trust me, you will love it a lot more than the Mac Pto.
And you'll save a few bucks too!:)

sounds like you didn't need our help at all. haha. Sweet birthday gift though, I'd love a mac Pro, but I like my portable desktop even better (MBP). FYI that'll be a lot of money in unused hardware. But hey that's your money not mine, just too bad that most of that power won't even get tapped into. :(

how old will you be turning? you sound like you're 14, and you frankly have no need for a mac pro. Ask your parents for a mac mini and don't waste their money. Get a 22" e-ips dell with it if you need a monitor. The apple led 24" is really nice, but have some mercy for the wallet of your parents.
I just realized you're from Dubai, and I've been there before, so I ignore my paragraph above. I know how stubborn people from UAE are. Most are the type of people who automatically think companies like Mercedes, Sony, Nokia, etc always make superior products without even giving it a hint of thought.

I really don't see the logic in buying a pro when you're doing the most basic of computing tasks. And as an above poster has already mentioned, they're pretty unsightly. Even with an unlimited budget like you obviously have, it's just ridiculous to spend that much for a computer when you'll utilize a fraction of the actual power.

Don't quite understand how you can like the design of the 24" ACD, and then say the iMacs look "girly" - they're the same apart from the chin on the iMac...
I get how money isn't a problem, but I still think you've wasted quite a lot of it - the new Nehalem Mac Pros are screamers on multi-core tasks, but a 3.06Ghz iMac can be faster at single-threaded applications (which is a lot of them), and certainly for what you're going to use it for, you'll not notice a jot of difference on a day-to-day basis. Apple have really gone the 'workstation' route with the Mac Pros this time round, with all the strengths and weaknesses that involves.
I would personally have maxed out an iMac and splashed that extra couple of grand on other fun stuff!
Oh, and I have a Mac Pro too, so I'm not totally biased on the matter either ;)

We'll see about that.. we've had the technology for electric cars for over 10 years.. Remember the EV1? Car worked great, yet for some reason it mysteriously was recalled and destroyed.

Well, in this current economy, people tend to save more than spend more on things they don't have to have. Just because it looks girly doesn't mean it's not good.
I would of saved the money and bought a car... you'd get more girls if you had a good car rather than a small aluminum box (beast or otherwise). And since you began the analogies about girls....:D

It was mysteriously destroyed because of the Oil Company conspiracy. They don't want us to get efficient electric cars because then they'd be out of business. We'll always have oil. Its a renewable resource when we wait millions of years for oil to be made. :)

I'm not so sure. I've seen rich/spoiled people as kids literally waste every penny of their inheritance money because they have no idea how tough life can be, how money comes, and how to manage it.
Look, I'm not jealous of him or anything. I make good money and I live a good life, but you won't see me coming to a forum showing off about it. And I'd even be more entitled to do so, as I earned what I have. This kid is showing off what mommy and daddy can buy and he is not entitled to show off at all considering he didn't earn any of it.

But this time, people are actually taking alternative vehicles very seriously. Demand for the new Prius is Japan is overwhelming, Honda is releasing the new Insight shortly, and Ford is really pushing the Fusion Hybrid.
And cars like the Honda FCX Clarity are just ingenious.
OTOH, maybe I'm just an optimist. :)

I don't understand why people are getting so worried about what this guy is buying. He's from Dubai. He's 16. He's loaded. A Mac Pro is what he wants and can afford...Obviously he won't use that power, but it's just like buying a Lamborghini. Try arguing with a millionaire about why he/she could just buy a Honda, as they're not going to use all the power of a Lambo. They don't need the power, but can afford it, so that's exactly what they are going to buy.

That depends: does said millionaire have access to a track or airstrip where they can actually use a Lambrorghini to its full potential? :D
Lambos are also impressive to look at. A Mac Pro, well... when you meet a girl who gets turned on by your Mac, do let me know. ;)

The dead giveaway that this kid is a fake is his bragging.
Years ago, I attended a high school with many kids whose parents were incredibly wealthy people. One girl got out of school early every other Friday to go to Paris with her mother to buy art. Another family owned their own island in the Caribbean. Some went to Key West or Vail for winter break and Nantucket in the summer. Three Dads were listed in the top 100 wealthiest men in the US. The kids had 'Drivers' and the families had maids and gardeners. Yes, all the kids had jet skis at the summer house. The Dads collected special cars (Porsches and Ferraris and Bentleys). They lived a fabulous life, if material goods make one's life fabulous.
No one I knew, not one, bragged to the extent that this kid has.
Big Money and Old Money believe in philanthropy. Discretion is key. Boasting is beneath them.
The only thing this kid has is a huge imagination.
And to the OP... You have been watching too much TV. "Gurls" who are attracted by money and fast cars will dump you when they discover that you are lacking in, well, deficiencies in the manly region. No amount of money will make up for that. Gives a whole new meaning to a Stimulus Package, if you know what I mean.
Reminds me of the joke...
Man: Honey, what would you like for your birthday? A new car, a diamond ring, a MacPro?
Wife: I want a divorce.
Man: Um, I wasn't thinking of anything that expensive.

why do you buy a screen for your laptop while you can connect your laptop to your tv and it has its own screen!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
let me think of something else!!!!!
why can;'t you see farther! i will join the college within a year and half! then can you assume what i will be studying? what if i might study vedio production or graphic designing!
this machine will stand with me like 5 years+ why will i change my machine if its working like a beast and does all the job!!!!!!!!
life is hard and I know that! but why do i save money while at the end we'll all die?????????!!!!!!!??????? why don't you enjoy your time while you are young because you won't be enjoying it while you are an old man?????????????
tell me why you wear expensive shoes while you can get almost same quality with less price in other brand!!!!!!
why do you wanna fight while I beleive this forum gives experince from one user to another???????????????

yes and no that $200 computer couldn't handle the programs I run. It is simple, I bought what I needed you bought what you wanted, they are completely different consumer beliefs.
I can't imagine you ever running into any problems with a MacPro. You bought Apple's do all computer. Calm down, and trying thinking about what you NEED and not about what you want. If you want a Mac Pro because it is Apple's most expensive and most powerful product and you want it only for bragging rights, You want it for the wrong reason and you don't even need it.
I agree with many of the other posts on here get a 24 inch iMac you will be very happy/satisfied.

You actually didn't ask about ease of use, etc. You appeared to be asking for advice on what to ask for as a birthday gift. However, you took an alternate route somewhere along the way and decided it would be best to simply put on a display about how big your ego is. Don't get me wrong, I like nice things. But I actually buy nice things because I have a use for them, not to just show how much money I can spend. And yes there are other great programs for Mac. However, CS4 and CAD perform on Mac like no other, hence the reference. No one was trying to tell you that those are the only programs. For that matter, why don't you just go out an buy everything ever made to run on OSX. Shouldn't be too much of a problem for you. Congratulations on your purchase though. I hope you continue to stimulate the economy in such frivolous ways.
If you are that worried about ease of use and what not, I'm sure there is a one to one trainer out there that would be happy to let you fly him out the the UAE and show you how to use your new Mac Pro.
This forum should give awards. Just for posters like you. I think you would be in the running for "Most inadequate grammar and language use of all time" as well as "The biggest ego on Macrumors.com"

You know, the original poster has a point.
Why do you guys buy macs when you can get a dell for half the price?
(Other then the fact that OS X is awesome.... but Hacintoshes work great!)
You guys can bash him all you want, but he is no different then any one on this forum. So what if he bought the most expensive computer apple offers. So would I!
Clearly he knows that it will out last his needs and won't need a computer for a while, and as he said he will be starting college in the next year or so..
Also, he is right about the fact that many don;t use the computers to their full potential.
How many macbook users are there that ONLY write word applications and use the itnernet? My old 486 could do that just fine. You DON'T need a 2+ghz machine to do that.
Again, the iMac.. Why should he get that? If he is going to lower his standards he might as well go and build a custom PC for the same price. Have best of both worlds, power of a Mac pro and cost of an iMac.
Any ways stop bashing the guy because we are all the same! No one here would turn down a mac Pro if it was given to them.

BLAH BLAH BLAH
It's simple. Your parents have money. Good for you.
People can get envious—it's human nature. Now run along and buy the computer; no need to ask us for what you want. If you don't know what you want, put the money in the bank and get interest. It's really simple—you don't have to spend it.
It's a computer; it's like any other computer. If you need it, buy it; if you have the money, blow it; we don't care.
As with your concerns, well I have a $200 computer; I have because that's all I need to spend to do it runs as the server that I built it for; I have a $2000 laptop because it does what I need it for. It's also a lack of choice.
Happy birthday kid.

Mac Pros are awesome, good for you dude, I don't care how old you are. :)
Way back when I regulared on MacNN I received plenty of flaming for getting a high end PowerMac G4 and yes, I flaunted the hell out of it. It was awesome, and I don't regret that, many of the people that deserved high end Macs on that site eventually got their time in the limelight too.
Sometimes, stuff is good, and sometimes it isn't so great. Right now, I'm using a MacBook with a dead battery - that's my powerhouse. I have a (slightly newer) PowerMac G4 because my old one got stolen and I only had enough to pick that up on ebay.
Yay for college being expensive!
Oh yes, and I forgot to mention, most professionals won't use a Mac Pro anyway, because their apps are Windows only. *smirk* (I'm not saying all, just most people that work a 9-5 in a large company).
Frankly, I believe you deserve the machine more than almost all of the people who posted in this thread, props to you. Now go put that bad boy to good use, maybe play with OpenCL, get a Windows partition on there and try out 3DSMax and maybe play with XNA on a machine with balls. :D
