Well what I do to discipline my cats is to get a wood floor, spin them in a circle and then put a laser pointer down and watch them run :D sorry but this is so funny. I recently adopted a new stray thats all balck with amber eyes, looks a lot like your cats, very nice.

Even your cat has poor taste. ;)
I guess it's time to buy new (better) earphones.

This thread made me chuckle. :D
Hmm.... Try keeping your headphones where your cats can't get to them, (in a case, backpack, etc)

I mean, a couple wire-nuts and some electrical tape would fix them up right away. :)

Ah dear, that's why I keep my in-ear headphones away from anywhere the dogs can get it, the youngest dog ate up my old headphones :(

When I first got my dog it chewed the power cable to one of my dads laptops, fortunately it wasn't plugged in. You live and learn :)

I do now! I used to just keep them on my desk wrapped around my iPod touch. Now there kept in a draw.

My cat keeps trying to steal my earrings (sometimes right out my ear!). Maybe she wants to pawn them to buy headphones for snacks ... :p

My Cat sleeps under my feet alot, sat on quite a few wires from thin 3.5mm and USB, to Big thick HDMI, DVI and Power Cables. Loves it down there, guess its the warmth.
No harm yet.

Wait, what?! If your cat is 35 pounds, how does it move?

My dog basically demolished my headphones too a week after I got them. Fortunately they weren't very expensive headphones, but nonetheless I was not happy having to buy new ones.

get some good headphones now. But for people looking for solutions to this put some hot sauce on say a hdmi cable your cat swoops in assuming he will be getting a nice plastic snack instead a nice mouth full of hot sauce, he will learn fast.

Sounds like it's time for some kitten tacos.
OP, you seem to be taking this awfully well. I'd have at least one fewer cat in the house if it had been me.

thats the reason i only have one cat :)
i had another cat a couple years ago and she chewed a hole in a brand new shirt i got from the cirque du soleil. she did this on more than one occasion and then we gave her to a friend of a friend. :D
apparently now she doesn't spend much time indoors so she stopped destroying stuff.

So you taking them back to Apple right and saying its a hardware fault?
Cats like the odours the wires give off - Hardware fault
The cable isn't strong enough to withstand everyday usage - another Hardware Fault
Replacement please :D
