I would like some input. I'm new to the whole DVD burning thing. If I have a G4/500 DP, with a DVD Ram drive, can I just purchase Apple's DVD-R media? What software would you recommend for just data archiving? Can I just use Toast?

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

DVD-R and DVD-RAM are different forms of DVD media. They are not interchangable. I do know that toast has the abilty to burn DVDs but I do not know the full extend of it's support. I would assume that you can burn data DVDs. I wonder if Apple shipped any software with their DVD-RAM drives? If Apple did then that would be a good start to making archives. It's not much but I hoped it help some.

yep...

DVD-RAM drive are not the same as DVD-R (superdrives).

With DVD-RAM - you can store Data only.
