I used to have XP installed on another intel mac with bootcamp. This computer was running 10.4 and I was able to open up the Windows partition from the icon on the desktop. From there I could drag in new items, take some out, whatever I wanted to do.

Now, however, on my new 10.5 computer, it seems every single folder is locked and protected in the windows partition I access from OS X.

Does anyone know how to fix that? I'd really appreciate some help with this.

Ah, problem solved. If anyone needs to know, on my old computer the partition was formatted in FAT32, which OS X can read and write to. However, I forgot this one was NTFS, which OS X can only read.

Yup, and when you set up Boot Camp it gives you the option on how to format the Windows partition. NTFS is supposed to be a more stable filesystem, but if you need to write to it from OS X you should use FAT32.
