it seems to be draining much more recently so im not sure what i can do to check settings etc which might prolong battery life. Im gonna phone O2 tommorow to see about getting it checked out but is there anything i can do just now myself???
Im not using it much when im out but even being on a few calls drains it & all i did this morning was listen to an album playlist.

Settings wise have you turned wifi off, set fetch new data to off, bluetooth off and locational services off?

i turned off all of those but im sure that the problem is the battery as i never had this problem until recently.
I have it set to push data as i have mobile me, that wont affect the battery much will it?
What is locational services anyway?

I occasionally have a problem with push email, if it fails it constantly keeps trying (although i dont see it much in 2.2.1)
I know when this happens on mine because the battery drains very quickly and also the usage figure is very high (usually equal to the standby time)
Might not be related but worth a quick check

PUSH is known to kill battery, location service is GPS.
My personal setting is fetch email every hour, bluetooth off and the rest is on.

Id turn off push to every hour or manually.
Also you can shut off location services if you are not using it.
You can also turn off blue tooth if you are not using it and like someone said shut off wifi
