Restore and bypass locked found iphone

so its my lucky day today.... i picked up a 3g iphone on the ground... im assuming he/she updated to the latest firmware? but not so lucky that theres a passcode on it... i m trying to restore the iphone..... can anyone gimme a step by step tutoriall how to restore/bypass the iphone?

You know if you wanted to be honest, you could follow this guy's example (http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=689273) and call 611 on the phone to get the service provider to help you find the owner.
