Apparently apple is preparing to release a new ad retaliating against microsofts recent ads about the expensive macs. Cut and paste:
Mac: Hello I'm a Mac.
PC: And I'm a PC.
Mac: Hey PC I'd like to introduce you to my fiance.
PC: Oh why hello, I just have gotten engaged too. Meet the future Mrs. PC.
Well... that's a nice engagement ring there, looks pricey.
Mac: I heard I needed to save up 3 months worth of paychecks. She's worth
it. I work hard especially for her.
PC: Really? I only spent a few bucks on her engagement ring.
Mac: Well that's alright, its the thought that counts.
PC: "Thought?" it's cheaper, that's the only thing that matters.
Mrs. PC: Really?
Ouch

I really hope that's not actually going to be an ad, because I think it does nothing.

Cool. I hope they make it.

People do switch due to the ads.

I just don't see an ad criticizing someone for spending less on a rock than someone else being very effective. Engagement rings are one of the major retail items that have taken a huge hit in the past few months, and it only serves to reinforce the very idea of Apple that Microsoft was trying to display in their original ad (money is no object, the economy means nothing, yada yada).
(And that's not even getting into any political issues with the diamond trade...)
I feel they could have found a much more effective way to get their message across - because I do agree with their message.

I don't like the Apple ads; they unnecessarily attack PCs like Windows is the only OS available to them. Also there are many problems in OS X as well.

.....Also there are many problems in OS X as well.
And yet Microsoft ad people don't seem to be able to exploit them.....
.............the best they've come up with is $$$

Touché.
I also hope they don't run something like that OP's script. I doubt it's genuine - the script reads flatter. Also, it's hitting too low. While it would be a direct response to the M$ ads, I don't think Apple would quite pull a punch that obvious.

Fake. Apple wouldn't respond so obviously blunt. I personally don't think Apple's ads are snotty or anything like some people do, but I would consider any with that script to be. Also, it just doesn't have the feel of a mac vs. pc ad.

Saving three months for a rock makes Mac look like a shallow fool. It also compares macs to diamond rings, confirming Microsoft's point that macs are expensive.
Anyway, PC would be more likely to get an expensive ring. He's more old-fashioned. Mac is cool and hip, not falling for outdated traditions.

friendly reminder, be careful doing BT on a mac, you might get infected with trojans and then a bunch of ppl will jump on you claim you are stupid and deserve the trojans.

Plenty of Windows users are sold AV software. That is why companies like Norton and McAfee are still in business, even though free alternatives exist.
And just because you run AV software, doesn't mean you are immune to trojans. Trojans take advantage of the ignorance of the end-user to bypass some protections.
