ok my macrumors amigos/amigas, im in a bit of a pickle. i just bought this kick ass new display, 20 inches 1680x1050 for only $120.00! its a really good deal you guys should check it out... http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/searchtools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=4108000&SRCCODE=WEBLET03ORDER&cm_mmc=Email-_-WebletMain-_-WEBLET03ORDER-_-Deals

anyhooser, i followed the instructions for clamshell mode and i still cant get it to work. i have a wireless logitech mouse and keyboard, and i cant make them wakeup the computer when it's closed. i think i tricked it into working once or twice but i cant get it to work consistently. any help would be MOST GOOD

I'm guessing you made sure the power was plugged into the macbook?

I made the mistake of not plugging the magsafe in and trying to run the macbook in clamshell mode when I first got my LCD tv. It would turn on for a second and then promptly turn back off. Needless to say, it confounded me for a bit.

You can install InsomniaX and that should do the job.

Or just make sure you have this option checked.

i tried to download it but i think their download site is down, besides i'd rather not use third party software anyway

If by restarting you mean like it's logging out and then back in, what are you sleep options set up as?

thanks for the help guys! i actually just did the mini dp adapter firmware update and it fixed my problem! the reason i didnt see that update pop up before is because it only comes up when you have the adapter plugged in
