make iphone to super itouch

so i got a free iphone from one of my friends...but the thing is it has no sim card at all...
as i was wondering how i could make it into a super ipod touch...i have no wifi at all because i need a sim card...and my iphone is 1st gen..
can anyone give me any tips how i can get wifi on my iphone...or make it into a super itouch

What do you mean you have no Wi-Fi? That has nothing to do with phone service. You simply need any Wi-Fi network on which to connect.

Oh, okay, great. Hm, this is odd then. Obviously WiFi must be turned on, otherwise I don't know why it wouldn't be working.
