Is there any software available that will allow me to censor some of my music? Specifically, mp3 files.
Thanks

Find a sound file that is just a beep, open iMovie, import your song, and put the beep file over profanities.

He could also do the same thing with Garageband.

Makes sense. I've never used it.

Using GarageBand will be the best way, since I don't know of any software that can detect profanity automatically.

No, but using GB to superimpose a beep manually will do the job.

Hey Guys,
Thanks for the inputs! I have never used Garage Band but this will give me a chance to learn.

If you take the time to learn, which isn't very hard, then take the small piece of audio with the material you want censored, then reverse it and put it back. Works just as well, but is a lot less obnoxious than a beep

A lot of people like flipping particular words that may offend backwards. This way it doesn't kill the feel of the song. Usually you'd do that when you have access to the split tracks and only reverse the vocal track.
I've never tried it with a full mix, but it might still be better than having a a tone cut through everything.
That being said, I don't know if garageband or any other free stuff can do this.
I'd do it with protools.

you could always look up to see if it has a parent advisory sticker before you audition it
