Hey guys I'm just curious what's the longest you've left your MBPs on? and by on I mean not in sleep mode but running, like downloading something or running an app...
reason why I want to know is because i am currently downloading a huge file and I'm not sure how long i should really be leaving a laptop on, coming from an iMac i was use to leaving it on for days but its a desktop.
of course I turn off the screen but still, I'm a little weary about leaving a laptop running for too long.

mine doesn't go to sleep (I am too impatient) but does shut off its screen. current uptime 72days and counting and that's since I last power cycled it in Canada (now am in Malta)

I've never actually counted. But I guess I've not left it on more than 20 days at a time.

There's always one person per thread who pulls the search card... it never fails

There's always some person who posts without searching.... it never fails.

I searched actually the others were just discussions, I felt like adding a poll. Sorry for any inconvenience that may have caused you.

I had it on for 82 days at one point doing a series of downloads that were taking their sweet time. The current uptime is only 12 days, but that's just because I installed an app that needed a restart. You can leave it on for as long as you need, really.

That is not in the MBP forum. Whats the deal? Do you go around to every thread and look to see if its already been posted? I guess maybe I just dont have the time to do that.

If you learn to use MRoogle (http://mroogle.edesignuk.com/), it takes about 1.2 seconds.
How to set up a quick right-click search of the MR forums. (http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?p=5853481#post5853481)
