I'm considering getting the 12" powerbook. Would it make sense to get a superdrive or get one of the dual sided external drives coming out? Any idea as to how much the external drives cost and speed of writing?

you will have to use hacks to get an external drive to work with apple's iLife, if the drive will work at all.

go with the internal. why have an external on a tiny notebook? it would be practically bigger than the laptop. you going to cart the drive around?

do you REALLY need a dual sided disc? they cost more than twice the cost of a single sided disc. where is the benefit? you add 2mm by burning to two discs instead of one, so space is not a factor. you can lose one, and still have the other if you burn 2 dvds, you are SOL with a dual sided disc. labeling is no good on a double sided disc...

i was wondering the same...

still, i don't see the point yet for a dual layer burner.
would be nice when the media is not $5+ a pop.

movie pirates would love not having to remove trailers/extras or lowering resolution to fit a 7gb dvd onto a 4.3gb dvd-r

I'm clueless on the dvd burning. What is the difference between dual sided and double sided burning?

or they could do special features and the movie separate. or have both widescreen and standard. the possibilities are endless. :D

actually, as far as movies go, i can't come up with too many more interesting possibilities. oh well.
