View Full Version : .avi to DVD format... please

i downloaded a movie using a torrent and have the .avi format of the movie.... i cant change it to mpeg1 or 2 to play like a dvd... im using a mac... ive already used sooo many applications like Burn, iDvd, ffmpegx, and mpeg streamline..... im almost giving up becuase i cant change it... When i put burned the movie using idvd no sound would work but it could play in a dvd player.. and all the rest of the apps just dont show the movie... i even have one of those cheap dvd players that plays .avi formats but it wont work on this one movie... please help...

thanks nexus144... ill try it and to tallest skill.... its not piracy.... its a video my close friend made and wants to share... so if your not gunna help i would really appreiate you taking your comments else where... thank you

FFMpegX might also help here, I don't know for sure, though.

If your "close friend" made it why not get a copy of the original file from them rather that a torrent?
Then you could re-rip it and re-code it your self.

If MTR, MPEG-Stream clip and toast all can’t re-code the download you already have, perhaps the file is corrupt?

What do you want to do the file? Play it on your Mac, Burn it to a DVD disk for any DVD player, put it on a portiable device? 'Case that changes the best way to do it.

Although I aplaude your up-standing moral standards (And yes video piracy is a crime which we do not support) this forum's fill of posts re DVD ripping etc of peoples "own dvds for back up"
