Hey all, I just purchased this used for my 40gb ipod. However, it seems to be a little small. I have to really stretch the cover over for the magnets to connect like they should. Did I just buy something that was for the 2nd gen ipods, and not the slightly larger 3rd gen 40? Or is it supposed to be like this. When pulled shut, it effectively, and here's the technical term, squishes the ipod down, so the openings don't match exactly with the buttons.

Is this normal, or did I just make a mistake?

The 30 and now 40 GB iPods are actually a little thicker than the other 3rd gen iPods. You may have gotten one for the smaller, less thick models by accident.

well that just stinks. guess i'll sell it on ebay then.
