I got it today after searching!

Its a

G4 Quicksilver Dual 867mhz Powermac (Mirrored Drive Door Version).
256MB Ram
60GB Hard drive
Combodrive etc
Original Box etc, the guy even had original purchase receipt!
It also has ONE year left on extended applecare warranty!

All for £550!

On ebay these go for £700+

Anyway im well pleased!
I know some of you guys will probably think "bla its only a dual 867, shoulda got a G5..."
But I really couldnt afford a G5, and tbh, this should be more than enough to suit my requirements for audio work.

I formatted the drive and installed Panther and it seems a LOT faster than my old G3/450!

Ive ordered another 256MB of PC2100 ram...

And now about to spend £200 on Logic Audio Express 6 :D

Congratulations!

Yes, this will be a great machine for audio work.

(By the way, I think the Quicksilvers are better looking - not to mention smaller - than the G5s)

Enjoy! :)

Congratulations on your new G4 SPACEKID. I agree with others, you should maximize the RAM. That is awesome that you still have one year of AppleCare.

My Quicksilver G4 DP/800 with 1.1GB Ram and 320GB HD rocks. Hard to justify an upgrade when it works so well. Final Cut Pro works fine.

What you will find is the dual processors make the machine more "fluid" and responsive.

Yeah, but it's only a dual 867 you shoulda gotten a G5. :-)

Kidding! I think its a great buy. I can't think of too many problems that 1733 mhz of G4 power couldn't tackle. The price you got was really amazing too.

512M of RAM is good, FYI but OS X is a hungry beast and will always crave more. Memory management does seem a lot better under Panther than Jaguar though.

Congratulations!

Thanks for all the uplifting replies guys :) :) :)

Yea, 256MB wont do much, the other 256Mb ive bought will at least get me to 512MB for now, but I will be getting another 512MB at least in the next month or so :) :)

If I had that option I would have also bought it over my G4 1.25Ghz iMac, the price alone is amazing! Nice system!

SWEET MAN! I'm waiting to buy as soon as the 3 Ghz PowerMacs come out, with 1GB Ram, and yeah... anyways that's great, I can't wait for my first Mac!
