I know how to SSH, so this isn't about that.

I want to know if there is a way I can SSH ringtones or my music so it appears in the standard iPod app.

And for ringtones, I'd like it to appear where I normally select my ringtones.

All of my music is in iTunes, none of it was bought from iTunes, so it doesn't have DRM.

Try Fugu, it lets you SSH to your iPhone using a Wi-Fi network. Also its easy to use.

He's not asking for an ssh client. He wants to know where the files are kept and what format they need to be in for him to ssh them into spot.

Well, mostly just the format. I use WinSCP to SSH, and I'm used to it by now.
I do need to know where to put my music though.

You can't just copy music files over and expect them to show up in the iPod app. The iPod app reads a weird, cryptic iTunes database file that knows where all the music is stored. Unless you added your files to that database (which is impossible unless you use iTunes or are a leet hacker) then the music won't show up.

Same thing with "custom" ringtones. They won't show up unless iTunes puts them there. However, you can put your ringtones in with the system ringtones and they might show up in the ringtones list.

They need to be under 40 seconds AAC audio with a .m4r file extension.
