Hey

I am considering buying a bluetooth keyboard from ebay.com as it is way cheaper.

Can anyone tell me if the layout of the keys is different on a US keyboard from a UK one?

Many Thanks

Many Thanks If you are speak English then i am awfully sure it is the same. Don't hold me on it though... You should contact the seller - or review the pictures and compare them with your standard keyboard.

punctuation characters etc are in differenct places, IIRC. Plus there is no pound sign on the US Keyboard.

So do you Britons have a Euro sign key on your keyboard nowadays? We don't have one of those either -- meaning you have to get to it by some key combo that is not listed on the keycaps....

Yes - I have € right to hand..

Dont forget the @ and " symbols are the other way round too - (as in american keyboards have the @ on the 2 not ' ).

I think there is probably a key combo for it, but it's not printed on the keyboard :D

You can download a picture of a US-layout Apple keyboard from Apple's site:

http://www.apple.com/pr/photos/keyboard_mouse/keyboard_mouse.html

Presumably you've already got a UK-layout keyboard, so you can compare the two...

On my G3 ibook 800Mhz the € is next to the @ on the '2' key - go on try alt-2

Just don't tell kettle ;)

Just saw the pic....the main downfull is no £ sign, is there anyway the $ sign can be configured to be a £ sign?

Thanks

Probably...also you can get a pound sign on a US keyboard by ALT-3 ... see: £. :D

I think there's a way for the Euro too but I don't know it offhand...oooh, there it is. It's ALT-SHIFT-2 = €

Much better. I also prefer "Apple" to "Command", but alt is just a no no.

Hey! It says Alt right on top of the key! :p

Okay, okay, okay, OPTION-3 for the UK Pound and OPTION-SHIFT-2 for the Euro.... Forgive me Father, it has been one year since I last switched. :D

Oooh, so what does the Option/Alt key say on it on a UK keyboard?

Ahhh, so you're the buggers who have that Option symbol on your keyboards still. ;) I hadn't seen one of those on a keyboard in a long time. It's a good thing I used Pre-X versions of MacOS before I switched! :D

When I first got a mac all the websites were going 'option this' and 'option that'....I thought 'What bloody option are they on about????' As edesign's picture shows WE DON'T HAVE 'OPTION' ON OUR KEYBOARDS!!! It's 'alt' and a stupid squiggle

Oooh, edesign, I'm sorry. I have a coverlet on my keyboard so I don't actually see the keys that often...I found this oddity on my keyboard too :D

the uk keyboard has a larger 'return' key, which I prefer.
