It depends what app you are in, but it works in Safari and Preview and unfortuntely not in M$ word :(.
1. Highlight the text you want.
2. Go to Safari / Preview menu and select 'Services'.
3. Select 'TextEdit' then 'New Window Containing Selection'
4. Voila!! TextEdit will open a new window with the selected text
inside
5. Press command p to print.
edit - not sure what other apps it works in - just experiment and see.

OK, that's FAR too complicated! I fail to see why they can't have a simple button for it in the Print dialog box like Windoze does. Is that so hard???

I don't see why that hasn't been corrected yet. Oh well. Maybe 10.3.8 or Tiger? Please???

Wow... that's a first... Windows does something better than OSX (other than getting infected with spyware and viruses.)

Can't you just drag a text clipping to the desktop and thence to your desktop printer?
