A quick question for all you gaming addicts out there in reference to ATI's new video card, the Radeon X800 XT

What, if any, is the main difference in performance between the PCI-Express and AGP-8x versions? More frame rates, more realistic pics etc? Are the PC versions both priced the same?

TIA for any info

At this point there is no real difference to be honest .. current GPUs can't even saturate AGP 8x so they sure don't benefit from PCI-Exp ..

And the two interfaces is the only thing that sets them apart .. they all have the same core speeds / mem speeds / pipelines ..

Thanks for the response. Maybe when one of those masochists, oops I mean testers at Anandtech, Extremetech etc, feel like testing both configurations then we'll see if there's any real difference.

They have already tested both configs, and PCI-Express shows very very little difference with 256MB cards like the 6800 Ultra with FULL everything in Doom 3.

AT the moment loke others have said. Not a lot of difference. But eventually the main difference is tha amount of information PCI-Express can handle. The current standard being used for video cards is PCI-Express 16x, which if I remember it's about 3 times as fast as AGP 8x. Maybe even more than that.

Again, like others have mentioned. Real difference is not yet there, in the long run they will be better video cards becuase of the PCI-Express bus.
