Damn, Dan...sorry to see you go.

You are/were a real asset to the community. You will be sorely missed if you decide to leave.

You have added a great deal to the threads you post to, and your polls and "Mac and ..." threads are always creative and interesting.

I'm guessing that Alpha and jef are sick of people disagreeing with them for no obvious reason. The trolls are all the people who come on here just to say how much they hate Apple or hate a user. My biggest problem with the trolls is that one has been harassing me. I hope that jef and Alpha come back but I think that the trolls will have to be driven away first.

I really haven't been 'round for the last few weeks, so I'm not really sure about the troll action that's been going on. I assume it's been more prominent over the last little while. Whatever, anti-troll action always just encourages them... ignore them and they will eventually just leave...

I really don't know what pissed him off so much. I agree with jello and krossfyre that buffsldr's comments weren't trollike at all and I just searched through some of jef's recent posts and I found nothing. I haven't seen too many trolls lately and flamewars are few and far between now, maybe it was something in the private forum or in PMs, I have no clue:confused:

you need to be a demi god or god to get in there;)

I don't get it... since when do we throw up our hands in surrender to trolls? They're everywhere, and that ain't gonna change. As long as we all stick together and defend our Apple/Mac loyalty, and each other, it's all good.

I am really, really saddenned by this.

I was sorry to see Alpha go even if I didn't get along with him. I didn't like to see a person leave the community because of bad things happenning. But Alpha seemed to leave more out of annoyance with newbies than anything, so I couldn't protest much.

But Jef...what can I say. You helped build this community. You are something of a figurehead. You've done a lot of good here. You've always been a very reasonable poster with very interesting and thoughtful posts.

It makes me very, very sad to see you go because of people who aren't even worth listening to. We can all agree that trolls and flaming are bad. Very bad. But don't give up on this wonderful community because of them. You've been here too long and posted too much to let them get to you.

Please at least consider staying around here. Even if you just post every once in a while, don't give up completely.

It's really sad to see someone else so beneficial leaving. Anyone got a flute that works on trolls...you can lead a troll to water, but you can't make him think. :)

I am really sad to see you go Jef!! You were one of the people that help make Macrumors a big sucsess early on! I hope you will drop by once in awhile to say hello.
We must not be discouraged by trolls, if we give up and leave then we are letting the trolls win! We must fight back with a vengence!

I think I've lived to see 3 "retirements" so far (correct me if I'm wrong Jef). Once, you were just retiring your handle. The other two times were out of frustrations about board content/trolling. Each time you've come back to lead the league in polling (and rebounds, I think...) :cool:

Please don't get me wrong. I love what you bring to the MR game, Jef. But excuse me if I don't take your next "retirement" too seriously. ;)

PS: I think you should retire like, once every month. Make it a running gag now that you've already started something...
