dvd burner - external, Help!!

Hello,

have a powerbook unfortunately without superdrive. therefore recently purchased dvd burner which whilst quicker, it is not compatible with idvd etc.

does anyone know what the patch is called and where to download from so that i can use the apple application with the external dvd burner?
