I have a MessagePad 130 here, and would like to sell it. Its great. Now, on to the sell!

It is is great shape. If you look closely you may find some minor issues with it, but this Newton is in a condition that is hard to find nowadays. It also has the original stylus-- something harder to find nowadays as people loose them. Another great thing about the 130-series of MessagePads is that they take normal AAs. I have two sets of the original Newton AA batteries, but they are getting old and I can't guaranty them. AAs work great though, and are actually really nice to use because they are found pretty much anywhere nowadays. The flip cover is great, still "sticking" to the backside of the Newton when not in use but easily flips forward to cover the screen. The backlight is in great shape, still pretty and bright. The screen has minor wear marks but is still in great shape.

The keyboard! This is a joy to type on. It has smaller keys than a normal keyboard, but it is very easy to adjust to typing on. It plugs securely into the Newton, without any wiggling. The keyboard also comes with its case, a stylish black bag that is rather convenient for carrying extra batteries.

I do not have the original power adaptor, but I do have a compatible charger that charges the Newton and powers it without any issues.

I also collected a great deal of software from the internet, and compiled a CD that I will ship to you so that you can simply insert the CD into you computer, install the software, and enjoy life with the Newton. Or, use the CD as a drink coaster and just enjoy life with the Newton. It works either way. But the CD contains a bunch of great software, including a system patch. Due to the fact that when I hard reset the Newton, it wipes out those system patches, I have to send it along with on the CD.
The great thing about the Newton is that if you forget to replace the batteries for, say, a month. Or two. Or even three, the data is still intact. Because of the non-volatile RAM that the Newton uses, the MessagePad 130 will keep your data safe in case of power loss. Try that with a Palm-- you might want to back up first. (I tried it out, and yes, it does loose its data not in ROM. The Palm that is.)

I am looking for about $90. I live in the U.S. of A. but would ship international-- you would just have to pay the costs of shipping it out of the country.

Undercutting a price by a ridicules amount is something that isn't allowed. Called "derailing" in the sticky (http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=30505).

Someone want it? I'll drop the price... I've also got a USB-->Serial adaptor that you can use if your Mac doesn't have serial ports (or if your PC doesn't). It is the PC-serial kind, but that just makes it easier to find a cable for it ;)

Good news! Just found software called NewTen (http://www.stevenf.com/index.php?node=NewTen) that allows you to connect to your Newton through OS X.

Combined with the Keyspan USB->Serial adapter I am giving you, you can use this software (free with source code) with your OS X based Mac. And I'll still keep all the other pre-X software included.

Any offers?

Hey Mech, long time no talk ^_^

I'd love to get a few pictures of this, as well as a link to some sort of specs page on it (although I'll go look for one).

I'd love to buy this machine, I'm just not quite sure how much you're looking for now... Would $50 be a ridiculous offer?

Hey there!

I will email the pictures to you, as I don't have the time to play with them to get them under 100kb each.

I wouldn't be comfortable with the $50 offer, because of the keyboard as well as the fact that I've got this CD full of software.

Contents of the CD:
Macintosh and Windows Connection Utilities (allows connection and syncing to the Newton from Windows or OS 9 and previous)
A number of fonts for the Newton (extra fonts)
An Update to the Newton OS
The Newton Internet Enabler (allows 56k internet connection)
Various Extra software, like NewtJabber Mahjongg, and Newton Press
The NewTen software, allows you to install Newton packages in OS X

Sure, I'll email you the pictures (I'll do it in a few minutes-- just saw this as I was leaving :o ). I'm willing to ship anywhere in the U.S. and to Australia... hmm. I'll figure out the cost of shipping it to Australia and then take off a dollar or two because I'm willing to ship to the U.S. included....

I'll get those pictures to you!

EDIT: Uh... just got back... and.... where is your email address? It isn't in your profile nor signature nor did you post it. So....

You can PM me with it if you don't want a spambot getting to it or something. But I can't email them to you if I don't have your address. :)
