I just found this on Cnet News (http://news.com.com/2100-1040-956357.html?tag=fd_top)
In Greece, playing a shoot-'em-up video game could land you in jail.
The Greek government has banned all electronic games across the country, including those that run on home computers, on Game Boy-style portable consoles, and on mobile phones. Thousands of tourists in Greece are unknowingly facing heavy fines or long terms in prison for owning mobile phones or portable video games.
WTF!!?

Wow!
Sounds like a law that will be difficult to enforce, but watch out if you do get caught.
This has a lot of implications for international trade and communications.
I will be watching this one to see how it turns out...

Sounds like our red terror alert (or worse) in another country. It's dang scary when you think about it. I can't imagine a world w/o games, even the old-fashioned Breakout. I think jail would be more fun.

Wait a few months, and then send a free Gameboy and CD full of shareware games to every civil judge & politician in the country. ;)
Better yet, just the judges and lawyers handling cival cases.
Might be nice to live in a country where all the lawyers and judges handling cival cases are in jail for 12 months. :D

i'm afraid the point has been missed... they didn't do this directly; they outlawed any form of gambling, and i suppose if you were terribly conservative, you would want to outlaw casino games... but what if people start betting on other video games... pretty soon, they've banned everything... it's incredibly pointless and i'm guessing the law will be repealed within the year...
