ok...the smoker's thread got me thinking a bit here...

I generally have a decent sized traveler's mug of coffee every morning...fairly strong (we Southerners love our coffee strong ;))

I've found myself craving a good cup of coffee in the evening sometimes...but I don't drink it during the day...usually water...with an occasional diet coke for an extra kick...

sometimes...usually when I stay away for a couple days...I'll get a headache...which is quickly fixed by a dose of caffeine...

anyone else a coffee lover?

yo man right here!

i love coffee. i have my own espresso machine, fresh coffee beans (shade grown) sealed in an air tight opaque container. i bust them out when i want a kick man. usually i get a quadruple shot of espresso to get me rocking.

I love coffee, not the caffene - but once a year, I take a week or two off of coffee and clean the system. The first couple of days are tough - head aches and such, but then I feel better.

The best is after the coffee fast having your first cup.....ah!

A few years back, i was up to 12-24 cans of Mt. Dew a day. And i was heavily addicted. i know it sounds funny now, but withdrawl was a bitch. so now i try to keep my coffee intake in check :)

I don't know if I'm addicted to caffeine. I do drink pop, not coffee. However, it may not be the caffeine i'm addicted too. I can do Sprite and other caffeine free pop. If it's not the caffeine, then what is it that i'm addicted to?!

WE AMERICANS ARE COFFEE ADDICTS! :D

I will probably have java up to 4 or 6 cups a week, and I find it VERY hard to avoid coffee for a whole week. Here, avoiding coffee is a drug. :p

Probably 6 or 9 months... my partner doesn't understand how i'm not diabetic... i actually wound up losing weight in the process, i think i messed up my metabolism a bit :) Just one of the dangers of having a loving grandmother that lets you get away with murder... i must have eaten 100 lbs of betty crocker frosting...

I used to drink about 6 cans of coke a day when I was 15 or 16 years old. I've cut down to a few a week now but I do drink a lot of coffee every day, 6 - 8 cups usually although half of those are usually decafenated coffee.

I don't know if could go a few days without coffee or not

It could be the carbonation...the bubbles.:) Makes the drink more interesting.

Anyway, I used to drink quite a bit of pop (more for the sugar than the caffeine), but me going on a diet, and giving up pop for lent sorta pulled me away. I still drink pop occasionally, but it doesn't seem the same anymore. As for coffee...its the same with me as alcohol. One bad taste (it musta been a straight black coffee or something) ruined coffee for me. However, I do like the smell of coffee...:D

cool. although i have found that sometimes the mom and pop (small business) coffee shops offer better tasting coffee drinks. reason is for the same reason a raw non corporate band often times sounds better then a coporate band whos bands indiviuality is being hindered for profit.

my personal favorite is a triple espresso from CC's Coffee here in NOLA...

I'm not addicted to caffeine. I'm actually surprised at the affect it has on some people. But caffeine has absolutely no effect on me. I could drink an entire liter of coke or pot of coffee right before bed and still fall asleep as normal.

Back in high school when I was stage manager for our performing arts productions we'd run the stage crew down to the liquor store and buy liters of Jolt. Here were my friends getting all-out buzzed and yet nothing was happening to me. Maybe I have an immunity or something.

I'm pretty similar to you Hemingray...except for when I have caffeine on an empty stomach, then I get jittery.

Completely addicted. My office has two soda machines, one coke, one pepsi, where everything costs only .25 Then they have one of those coffee machines that grinds the beans and brews it fresh for you. Sometimes I OD on coffee, it is not a pretty sight.

for some strange reason i think i am addicted to caffeine. There is this like urge for me to drink a softdrink such as dr pepper or that new pepsi blue ( tastes a little funky , but good in a sense), it is realy addictive, allmost as bad a cigs:eek: but i got to stop the urge to drink coke and pepsi, cause they football coach at my highschool said that it will affect my performance on the field:eek: \

so im kicking the habit ( sound like i smoke huh, but never done any of that ****:D

im addicted to coke, but not to coffee, i dont like coffee, but i dont mind mocha latte
lol lots of ppl here say that tim hortons coffee is better than starbucks....even tho i never tried starbucks (and i'dd probably just get a mocha anyways), tim hortons' mocha's are pretty good, too coffeeish when u start drinking it, but when your half way done, it starts getting a more chocolatey taste :)

I really dislike the effects of caffeine on my system, but I do like iced coffee (UCC, Jakada, Frappacino) and Mountain Dew (esp. Code Red). Coca Cola seems to make me more of an insomniac than Dew but there's more caffeine in the Dew so I'm not sure what Coca Cola is putting in there.

The biggest caffeine jolt I've gotten was from Kahlua Coffee which they sell in Eckerd drug stores now. It's non-alcoholic and has a great taste, at least, for me.

As much as I like coffee, I don't drink it during the week if I want to be awake during work and school.
